List Description
The SIN (Substitute It Now) List consists of chemicals that are identified by non-governmental experts as Substances of Very High Concern based on the criteria established in the European Union's REACH regulation. The SIN List has been developed by ChemSec as a combined effort of public interest groups, businesses, scientists and technical experts in the EU and the US. It is based on credible, publicly available substance information from existing databases, scientific studies and new research.
List Methodology
The SIN List (version 1.1) was downloaded as a spreadsheet.
Modifications to the original list
Chemical names for [EC-421-550-1] and [EC-402-660-9] were incomplete (truncated) in the SIN List spreadsheet. These names were corrected. The chemical name for [EC-435-960-3] was altered for greater clarity (the words "mixture of:" were moved to the beginning).
Tonalide [21145-77-7]: the CAS number 1506-02-1 was removed because it is no longer valid.
CAS registry numbers for the following substances were added:
- hydrazine bis(3-carboxy-4-hydroxybenzensulfonate) [148434-03-1]
- hydrazine-trinitromethane [4682-01-3]
- cobalt lithium nickel oxide [131344-56-4]
